THE FRESHMAN (1925)
76 minutes; b&w
Starring Harold Lloyd
THE FRESHMAN is one of Harold Lloyd’s funniest films, in which he plays a collegiate patsy who’ll do anything to be popular on campus --- unaware that everyone is making fun of him. The football game finale is one of the classic sequences of silent-film comedy.
Ethan is one of the hottest names in today’s ragtime/traditional jazz scene. Winner of the 1st Place Prize in the 2007 World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest, Uslan has performed on NPR’s Prairie Home Companion, as well as various concerts and festivals worldwide. He has also provided live musical accompaniment to silent film comedies at Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s ImaginOn Library.

Sam Shapiro, Program Coordinator for Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, has facilitated the library’s popular film series since 1993. In 2010, Creative Loafing awarded the film series its Best Of Charlotte award for “Best Film Series”. In Winter 2012, the film series will be showcasing at ImaginOn Library “The Newspaper Picture” (including HIS GIRL FRIDAY and ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN). Prairie Home Companion as well as various concerts and festivals
