Giacomo Puccini’s iconic “Tosca” is one of the handful of operas regularly performed by major companies worldwide. Set in Rome in 1800, the opera revolves around acclaimed operatic soprano Floria Tosca; her lover, the artist Mario Cavaradossi, who opposes the government; and the police chief Baron Scarpia, who wants information about the revolution from Cavaradossi and passion from Tosca. The intersecting of their lives within a 24-hour period ends in tragedy for all three. CPCC Opera Theatre is excited to produce this powerful opera, whose spine-tingling music joins the passion of the story in a way that few stage works accomplish.
